YST Pop Music Recording and Mixing Toolkit

Objectives

This course helps learners adopt audio technology and systems application in media production, learners will use their song as multi-track materials for mixing. This course will cover topics such as: 1) Sound and Signal flow 2) Technology-enabled learning delivery through the use of digital audio workstation (DAW) and mixer 3) Technology application of mixing such as compression, Equalization (EQ), reverb and delay To enhance the understanding of such concepts, learners will engage in hands-on practical sessions, as well as participate in discussions to gain more knowledge in the necessary techniques and skills involved in digital recording and digital mixing.

Content

Building upon the skills learnt in “YST Pop Music Production and Arrangement Toolkit”, this course helps learners apply the knowledge gained to media recording technology in their respective creative practices. Educators can also utilise these skills to help students in school projects once they are equipped with the latest technology and system applications in the media industry. These media production skills are therefore relevant to professionals and freelancers as it helps diversify their portfolios, creating more opportunities for collaboration in digital technology adoption and innovation.

Entry Requirements

Completion of YST Pop Music Production and Arrangement Toolkit short course

or

Some working experience in the music industry/prior background of music-related activities detailing experience of pop music production and arrangement with one representative example from your portfolio submission, subject to approval.

  • Select the ‘Short Course/Modular Course’ option (this is a short course). Click ‘Applying for Myself’.
  • Click ‘Browse Academic Modules/Short Courses’.
  • Select ‘Short Courses’ from the dropdown.
  • Click on the ‘By Faculty’ dropdown (first item under More Filters). Scroll to the bottom and select YST.
  • The list of our Short Courses should appear. Select your module and select ‘Add to Cart’.
  • Once you are done choosing modules (up to five), select ‘Checkout’.

You can then proceed to create an application account to submit your personal details.
