Exploring Classical Music Recording

Objectives
While there are substantial resources on recording, information specific to classical music recording is less readily available. This introductory course is for anyone from the music industry who is interested in gaining insights as to what goes on behind the scenes. Learners will obtain basic understanding of critical listening skills and microphone techniques in classical music production. They will also get a chance to witness real life sessions where applicable. These experiences can help value-add to their work be it to enrich teaching content or to make better use of their own recording sessions.

Content
This course will cover:

1) The sound of the classical music.
2) The microphone technology and techniques from solo instrument to large ensemble. 
3) Basic post-production skills.

Anyone from the music industry

  • Click ‘Browse Academic Modules/Short Courses’.
  • Select ‘Short Courses’ from the dropdown.
  • Click on the ‘By Faculty’ dropdown (first item under More Filters). Scroll to the bottom and select YST.
  • The list of our Short Courses should appear. Select your module and select ‘Add to Cart’.
  • Once you are done choosing modules (up to five), select ‘Checkout’.

You can then proceed to create an application account to submit your personal details.
