Singaporean musician Simon Lee was Principal Oboe of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra from 2017 to 2023. 

Simon graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, under the tutelage of Ms. Rachel Walker; during the course of his studies, he was selected for the Student Exchange Programme at the prestigious Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, where he studied with Jean-Louis Capezzali. 

He was an esteemed member of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra in 2011 – the only Singaporean to be selected – resulting in the unprecedented honour of performing in Sydney. He was Principal Oboe of the Asian Youth Orchestra for their 25th anniversary tour. 

He has also performed with the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Chongqing Symphony Orchestra, Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

He is frequently invited as a guest oboe and woodwind clinician in Singapore, Malaysia, and China. 

His students’ achievements include successful auditions into Singapore National Youth Orchestra, Asian Youth Orchestra, and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. His students have also won full-time positions in professional orchestras.

In July 2023, Simon presented a recital featuring Singaporean composers at the International Double Reed Society Conference 2023 in Thailand.

Simon is a Buffet Crampon oboe artist since 2020.
