Red Dot Baroque Presents “The Tastes Reunited”
6 November 2024 • 7:30pm
Conservatory Concert Hall
In 1724, François Couperin coined the term “Les Goûts-réunis”, or “The Tastes Reunited”, where he argued that the perfect music comes from a unification of both the dramatic Italian style and the elegant French style. 300 years later, Ensemble-in-Residence Red Dot Baroque celebrates this harmony of influences with a programme of music from Baroque France that marries the best of both worlds. Blavet’s Flute Concerto and Leclair’s Violin Concerto contain flashy virtuosic writing alongside a sense of elegant restraint, while the timeless operatic music of Rameau prevails with a selection of arias and dances from his famous opera, Hippolyte et Aricie.
MICHEL CORRETTE (1707-1795)
JEAN-PHILIPPE RAMEAU (1683-1764)
JEAN-MARIE LECLAIR
