Chamber Week – Brawl in the Hall
March 17, 2025 • 6:00pm
Conservatory Orchestra Hall
Get ready for the most intense 50 minutes of the semester! Renowned musicians and YST faculty—Yang Shu Xiang, Brenda Koh, Martin Peh, and Leslie Tan—take on Beethoven’s mind-boggling Grosse Fuge, a work so daring it left audiences stunned.
Joining them, fearless freshmen musicians step into the ring with a fiery tribute to Astor Piazzolla: Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round, a piece that pulses with the energy of a final tango duel. The battle reaches its peak as The Cave Quartet and faculty musicians unleash the raw power of Shostakovich’s electrifying Octet.
