YST Chamber Singers present Hopeless Romantic, the programme features choral works by masters such as Schubert, Schumann and Tchaikovsky from the Romantic period – of which the oeuvre is a fine representation of both its musical styles and ideals – expression of emotions through references of nature in poetry. The programme concludes with Eric Whitacre’s Cloudburst – an eight and a half minute masterpiece set to text by Octavio Paz’s poem El cántaro roto (The Broken Water-Jar) – a dramatic account of rainfall in the barren desert.
