ABOUT THIS EVENT
Beyond the Score is a capstone project by final year MS/MCP students Matthias Oh and Evan Xia. This symposium aims to provide participants with an opportunity to comprehensively understand and appreciate the practical impacts of music and its contributions to many other facets in society outside the music scene. The objective of the one-day symposium is to showcase a pool of knowledge and insights based on the experience of invited guest speakers regarding “non-music” areas that involve community engagement and societal contributions by musicians.
Targeted at student musicians or musically inclined individuals with a keen interest in contributing to society through music, this symposium endeavours to help the participants realise the vast potential of bringing their musical identities beyond their own instruments or technical practice. Hence, titling it “Beyond the Score” provides a simple but clear idea of the intention behind the entire knowledge-sharing session.
