ABOUT THIS EVENT
In tandem with the Ancestral and Rituals Gallery’s examination of how traditions shape Southeast Asian societies, Litmus Jazz Ensemble explores the spaces between tradition and evolution by investigating the relationship between contemporary jazz aesthetics and their ancestry. Through a voyage exploring the etymologies of contemporary jazz dialects, this programme unveils the perseverance of the Blues’ vocabulary and spirit throughout the lexicon of jazz — highlighting the role of provenance in anchoring art to the communities they emanate from.
