ABOUT THIS EVENT
Visiting Artist Luo Wenhong conducts a masterclass with YST viola students.
Violist Luo Wenhong was the 3rd prize winner of the 12th Lionel Tertis Viola Competition and the 19th Johannes Brahms Competition. A native of Beijing, China, Wenhong made her debut with the China Broadcast Symphony Orchestra at the age of 16, playing the Walton Viola Concerto. Shortly after, she moved to London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music, and at the age of 22, she relocated to the United States to begin her studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. Wenhong joined the string faculty of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2020, after completing her doctorate with Kim Kashkashian at the New England Conservatory of Music. She devotes herself to both solo and chamber music playing, and is passionate about delivering music to diverse communities. She is an artist of the Music for Food organization in Boston, and has toured with Midori Goto to Nepal and Japan as part of the Music Sharing program.
This event is supported by the Kris Foundation Viola Masterclass Fund.
