ABOUT THIS EVENT

This concert features a diverse selection of works by composers Anestis Logothetis, György Kurtág, Wolfgang Rihm, and Gerald Grisey. Logothetis was particularly interested in exploring the relationship between sound and space, and this is evident in the way that his “Dynapolis” creates a vivid and immersive sonic environment. This is followed by Kurtág’s Wind Quintet, Op. 2, a powerful and intimate work that showcases the composer’s distinctive voice. The concert continues with Rihm’s “Epilog,” a dramatic and emotive string quintet that puts the limelight on the two cello and showcases  the composer’s virtuosity. The concert concludes with Grisey’s “Périodes,” a sweeping and immersive work that explores the concept of time, sound and space.

Experience the best in contemporary classical music with OpusNovus, the dynamic ensemble made up of talented students from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. From cutting-edge compositions by renowned living composers to hidden gems of the contemporary repertoire, OpusNovus has something for every modern music enthusiast.
