ABOUT THE EVENT
In this multimedia presentation, Dr Salgado talks about the science behind his Science & Symphony films and the creative process involved in making them. This includes photographing natural phenomena around the world such as the lunar tides and the aurora borealis. Through excerpts from these films, we embark on an awe-inspiring virtual tour, travelling from the subarctic North to the South Pole and from Earth’s orbit to galaxies far away, while learning about these fantastic places. Dr Salgado further encourages audiences to think in multidisciplinary ways and to explore fields such as science, music, education, filmmaking and photography.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Dr José Francisco Salgado is an Emmy-nominated astronomer, experimental photographer, visual artist, and public speaker who creates multimedia works that communicate science in engaging ways. As the co-founder of KV 265, a non-profit science and arts education organization, Dr Salgado collaborates with orchestras, composers, and musicians to present films that provoke curiosity and a sense of wonder about the Earth and the Universe.
