Fees and Funding

The Master of Audio Arts and Sciences (MAAS) is a one-year, 40-unit program offering specializations in Music Recording Production or Audio System Design. Core courses include Immersive Sound Technologies, Acoustics, Critical Listening, and a Graduate Internship. 

Students may choose to focus on one of two tracks in the programme. The Music Recording Production track focuses on advanced recording techniques and classical music production, while the Audio System Design track covers system tuning, electroacoustics, and industry analysis. 

Admission requires a relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, along with a strong background in music or engineering depending on the chosen specialization. 

The Master of Audio Arts & Sciences is a self-funded programme with no scholarship or SSG subsidy/SkillsFuture Credit available.

Curriculum Structure

Course Requirements

Core (20 units) + Specialisation (20 units)

Students will be expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 during their enrolment in the Master of Audio Arts and Sciences degree. To continue in the programme, a student may not have: 

1) GPA below 3.00 (but greater than or equal to 2.50) for two consecutive semesters; or 
2) GPA below 2.50 for the first semester. 

Students will be required to have a minimum 3.00 or higher GPA result to be eligible to graduate.

Continuation Requirements:

  • Good = GPA is 3.0 and above in any semester
  • Probation/Warning = GPA is below 3.0 in any semester
  • Dismissal = GPA is below 2.5 for 2 consecutive semesters
  • Dismissal = GPA is between 2.5 and 2.9 for 3 consecutive semesters
