ABOUT THIS EVENT
The Schubert “Arpeggione” Sonata was originally written for the bowed-guitar instrument “Arpeggione”. While the instrument’s fame did not last, the lyricism and beauty of the piece sustained its lasting imprint, as various instrumentalists played it throughout the course of time.
Brahms Sonata in E minor was borne from the middle period of the composer’s life. Here, he paid homage to tradition through form, whilst incorporating a singing romantic expression, creating his own compositional language.
Both of these sonatas embody the emotions of Lachen and Weinen (Laughter and Tears). They manifest themselves through the events in the course of both composer’s lives. Join us as we explore these emotions, which are the very depth of the human existence.
