Steven Baxter Recital StudioABOUT THE EVENT
Join Year 3 Voice majors who have curated this presentation as part of their Voice Literature class and members of the studio as they take you on an educational and entertaining experience. This event will shed some light on the Evolution of English Music with focus on Purcell and Britten. Examining the impact of Purcell’s music even on Britten, we will discover how perhaps even modern English music has inherited traits from the Baroque. We will also delve a little into the barren period of English music composition from the late 1700s to the 1800s and examine the reasons for such a unique phenomenon.
